Sir Evelyn de Rothschild was born on August 29, 1931 to Yvonne Lydia Louise Cahen d’Anvers and Anthony de Rothschild. He spent his early years in the USA before going back to the UK to continue his education. He graduated from Harrow School in London and proceeded to college in Cambridge but stopped before he could complete his degree in history. By the age of 26, Evelyn Rothschild has enjoyed all the socializing, travelling, horse racing, polo playing, and exotic sports car driving he has been entitled to when he was born into a very prominent family in England. He then decided to be trained in the family business by joining NM Rothschild & Sons, a British investment banking company with multinational scope. How did Sir Evelyn de Rothschild make his money?

Majority of his personal wealth came from his share in the family business. However, he has ventures of his own, which helped increase his net worth. He held the post of Chairman to the following companies: The Economist, British Merchant Banking & Securities House Association, Milton Keynes Development Corporation, and United Racecourses. He also became a director of De Beers Consolidated Mines and IBM United Kingdom Holdings Limited. He served as a financial adviser to Queen Elizabeth II and was knighted by her in 1989. He founded a holding company in 2003 in partnership with his wife, Lynn Forester de Rothschild. The E.L. Rothschild Company was founded to manage various investments made by Sir Evelyn de Rothschild together with his family.
